Fall Fashion Week 2012 Fashion Trends

The fashion items you’ll need to stay on-trend

At Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week, runways were buzzing with hot trends for fall and winter fashions. From lush fabrics to bold patterns, there was no shortage of fashion trends for the masses to emulate and covet. Here are just a few of the things we will be seeing in fashion this coming fall and winter.

Unexpected Patterns

If there is one trend that always dominates the fashion runways for the fall and winter seasons, it’s the abundance of patterns that can be seen on everything from clothing to accessories. Gone are your old-school pinstripes and polka dots, and in their place stand bold flowers, chaotic, widely banded stripes, oversized houndstooth, and even splatter-paint-inspired designs. One thing is certain: the coming seasons will be all about the print.

Leather

One fabric seen on multiple runways was leather. Used in everything from dresses, to loose-fitting trousers, leather asserted itself as an incredibly versatile fabric, which lends itself well to looks that are designed to be sleeker, smoother, and decidedly more “high fashion.” At Alexander Wang, leather was the star of the show, paired with softer fabrics designed to refine and soften the otherwise incredibly sophisticated looks.

Feminine Silhouettes

While “androgynous” and “flowing” were the buzz words in previous fashion weeks, sleek, sexy, and feminine was the name of the game this season. Many designers celebrated the female shape in figure-hugging outfits that showcased the female form, rather than hiding it. This is one trend you’ll definitely want to follow, come fall.

What are the fall/winter fashions that you’re looking forward to?

I love the over sized houndstooth I will looking for that pattern. I saw a lady downtown Ft.Worth Tx where I work and she had on form fitting colored jeans and a form fitting shirt with a long straight sweater that went down to her ankles paired with high heels and she looked fabulous like that. So I am wanting some colored jeans this year for sure after seeing her. Great read thank you Adina! This comment has been removed.
